Ledgent Finance & Accounting is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist for a temp-to-hire, onsite-only opportunity with one of our Sacramento-based clients. This role is perfect for someone with strong payroll processing experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage high-volume or complex payroll environments.
Process full-cycle payroll for weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly schedules
Review, validate, and audit timesheets and electronic timekeeping entries
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local (CA) payroll regulations
Process new hires, terminations, wage changes, deductions, and PTO
Administer garnishments and benefits-related payroll deductions
Reconcile payroll reports and assist with month-end and year-end processing
Partner with HR, Accounting, and management teams
Respond to employee payroll inquiries professionally and promptly
Maintain organized payroll records for Sacramento operations
2-4 years of payroll processing experience (multi-state or CA-specific preferred)
Proficiency with payroll systems such as ADP, Paychex, Paylocity, UKG, or similar
Experience with timekeeping systems (Kronos, TSheets, ClockShark, etc.)
Strong knowledge of California wage and hour laws
Intermediate Excel skills
High attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
Excellent communication and customer service skills
